این سخن نقلست در قوت القلوب
زان بزرگ پای دین پاک از عیوب

گفت هر روز ازملایک عالمی
سوخته گردد ز نور حق همی

ز ابتداتا انتهای روزگار
چند دانی نسل آدم را شمار

راست هم چندان بهر روزی ملک
از سماک انگشت گردد تا سمک

میبسوزند این همه روحانیان
پس دگر میآید آنگه در میان

ای عجب هر روز چندین سوخته
خیل دیگر خویشتن بر دوخته

چون ملایک حاضر و جمع آمدند
سر بسر پروانهٔ شمع آمدند

این همه هر روز میسوزند پاک
دیگران در آرزوی آن هلاک

تاملک کردند آدم را سجود
عشقشان یک ذره آمد در وجود

ره بحق چون جان آدم یافتند
تا ابد در خدمتش بشتافتند

English translation

This saying is recounted in the Qut al-Qulub (Nourishment of Hearts), From that great pillar of faith, pure of flaws. He said, every day a whole world of angels Is continuously burned by the light of the Truth. From the beginning to the end of time, However many you consider the count of Adam's descendants to be; Exactly that same number of angels every day, Turn to charcoal from the Zenith down to the Nadir. All these spiritual beings are burning, Then others come forth into the midst. Oh wonder, every day so many are burned, And another host prepares itself. When the angels became present and gathered, They all entirely became the moths of the candle. All of these burn completely every day, While others are longing for that annihilation. Since the angels prostrated before Adam, A single speck of love came into their being. When they found the path to the Truth like the soul of Adam, They hastened in His service for all eternity.
