بوعلی دقاق آن شیخ جهان
شد بنزدیک مریدی میهمان

آن مرید از عشق او میسوخت زار
کرده بودش روزگاری انتظار

شیخ بنشست آن مرید نونیاز
گفت شیخا کی بخواهی رفت باز

گفت ناافتاده وصلی اتفاق
پیش باز آوردی آواز فراق

English translation

Abu Ali Daqqaq, that master of the world, Became a guest at a disciple's home. That disciple was burning bitterly with love for him, Having awaited him for a long time. The master sat down; that newly yearning disciple Said, 'O Master, when will you go back (leave)?' He replied, 'Before a union has even taken place, You have already brought forth the song of separation.'
