Original content
چنین دادست صاحب شرع فتوی
که هر کو یک سخن گوید ز دنیی
به پانصد سال ره کانرا شمارست
ز جنت دور افتد، این چه کارست
ز دنیا یک سخن، خود چون بود آن
که گر افزون بود افزون بود آن
کسی کو عمر در دنیی بسر برد
قوی مردی بود، در دین اگر مرد
چو کشتی در ره دنیا تو خود را
خری باشی که باشی گول و خود را
ز دنیی جزپشیمانی چه خیزد
نمی دانی ز نادانی چه خیزد؟
English translation
Thus has the Master of religious law given a decree: That whoever speaks a single word of the world, By a journey of five hundred years' distance, Shall be cast far from Paradise; what a grave matter is this! If a single word of the world is such, How much worse if it is more! He who spends his life in this world, Would be a strong man indeed, if he dies in faith. If you killed yourself in the path of the world, You would be a donkey, foolish and self-willed. What arises from the world except regret? Do you not know what arises from ignorance?
