جواب پدر / The Father's Answer

پدر گفتش که حرصت غالب آمد
دلت زان کیمیا را طالب آمد

چه خواهی کرد دنیای دنی را
سرای مکر و جای دشمنی را

که دنیا هست زالی هفت پرده
برای صید تو هر هفت کرده

همی بینم ز حرصت رفته آرام
بیارام ای چو مرغ افتاده در دام

که مرغ حرص را خاکست دانه
ز خاکش سیری آید جاودانه

English translation

The father said to him: 'Greed has overcome you; For that reason, your heart became a seeker of alchemy. What will you do with the base world, The house of deceit and the place of enmity? For the world is an old hag with seven veils, Who has fully adorned herself to hunt you. I see your peace is gone due to greed; Rest, O you who are like a bird fallen in a snare! For the bird of greed, dust is its grain; From dust comes its eternal satiation.'
