The Ninth Discourse

Original content

English translation

The third son came with perfection, He immediately described his state to his father: 'There is a cup that shows the world, I want that; I do not want kingship. I have heard that there is such a cup, In which whatever you seek is visible. Even if there are many hidden secrets, That cup will give you a sign of them all. I know not what beautiful mirror that is, In which the design of the horizons is revealed. In a single breath, if the world is a secret to you, It will inform you of everything clearly like day. If such a cup comes into my hand, The heavens, despite their height, will become low to me. The secret of the whole world will become manifest to me, And many things that I am ignorant of, I will know.'
