پسر گفتش که هرگز آدمی زاد
ندیدم ز آرزوی ملک آزاد
نمی دانم من از مه تا بماهی
کسی را کو نخواهد پادشاهی
کمال ملک نتوان داد از دست
که بهر ملک تن جان داد از دست
نکو گفت آن حکیم مشتری فش
که گر شاهی بود روزی بود خوش
English translation
The son said to him, "I have never seen a human born Free from the desire for a kingdom. I do not know anyone, from the moon to the fish, Who does not desire kingship. The perfection of a kingdom cannot be surrendered, For a person has given up their life for the sake of a kingdom. Well said that Jupiter-like sage: 'If kingship lasts but a day, it is a joyous day.'"
