(13) The Supplication of That Great One to the Exalted Truth

Original content

English translation

One dawn, a great man in supplication Opened his tongue and said, "O Self-Subsistent Essence! I am satisfied with You both day and night; You, too, be satisfied with me, O Lord!" He spoke thus, and then heard a voice: "In this claim, I see you as a liar! If you were truly satisfied with Us, When would you ever seek satisfaction from Us? If you have become satisfied with Us, you madman, Why are you seeking Our satisfaction now? For one who is the essence of perfection in satisfaction, Since he is satisfied, seeking satisfaction is impossible. If you are satisfied with Us, what are you seeking? And if not, why do you call yourself satisfied? Yield, have patience, sit down, and do not clamor; What delusion are you concocting? Do not quarrel and seethe so much! One moment you desire an impossibility, Another moment you are caught in a sack of a hundred illusions. You do not listen to a single word in the end, For you have become deluded by an impossibility after all."
