مگر نمرود را چون هشتصد سال
برآمد تیره شد حالی بر او حال

اگرچه از تکبر پیل تن بود
ولی یک پشه او را راه زن بود

یقینش شد که چون انکار کرده ست
خدای این پشه را بر کار کرده ست

به ابرهیم گفت او که آشکار ست
که اکنون گنج من بیش از هزار ست

همه پر زر سرخ است و جواهر
به تو بخشم ، دعایی گوی آخر !

که تا از فضل و رحمت حق تعالی
دهد از نور ایمانم کمالی

خلیل آنجا نهادش روی بر خاک
زبان بگشاد کای دارندهٔ پاک

ز دل برگیر قفل این بی خبر را
بجنبان سلسله ، بگشای در را

به ایمان تازه گردان جان مستش
به فضل خود ممیران بت پرستش

خطاب آمد ز حضرت کای پیمبر
تو فارغ شو ازو و رنج کم بر

که ما را نیست ایمان بهایی
که هست این گوهر ایمان عطایی

که چون خواهیم فرمانی درآید
ز ترسایی مسلمانی برآید

بزرگانی که استغناش دیدند
نه شب خفتند و نه روز آرمیدند

چو کور از نقطهٔ اسرار بودند
همه سرگشته چون پرگار بودند

چو کس را از دم آخر خبر نیست
ازان دم حصه جز خوف و خطر نیست

English translation

When Nimrod reached eight hundred years of age, His condition suddenly grew dark and dire. Though in his arrogance he had the body of an elephant, Yet a single gnat became his waylayer. He became certain that, because he had denied God, God had set this gnat to work against him. He said to Abraham, "It is evident, That now my treasures number more than a thousand. They are all full of red gold and jewels; I will grant them to you, just say a prayer! So that by the grace and mercy of the Exalted Truth, He may grant me perfection from the light of faith." The Friend of God (Abraham) laid his face upon the dust, And opened his tongue, saying, "O Pure Sustainer! Remove the lock from the heart of this unaware one, Shake the chain, and open the door. Refresh his intoxicated soul with faith, By Your grace, do not let him die an idolater." An address came from the Divine Presence: "O Prophet! Free yourself from him and suffer less pain for his sake. For to Us, faith is not a commodity with a price, This jewel of faith is a freely given gift. Whenever We will, a command is issued, And a Muslim emerges from a Christian. The great ones who have witnessed His independence, Neither slept by night nor rested by day. As they were blind to the central point of the mysteries, They were all bewildered, revolving like a compass. Since no one has knowledge of their final breath, From that breath there is no portion but fear and peril."
