بغزالی مگر گفتند جمعی
که ملحد خواهدت کشتن چو شمعی

بترسید و درون خانه بنشست
که تا خود روزگارش چون دهد دست

چو در خانه نشستن گشت بسیار
دلش بگرفت از خانه بیک بار

کسی نزدیک بوشهدی فرستاد
که ای در راه حق داننده استاد

ز بیم ملحدان در خانه ماندم
اگر عاقل بدم دیوانه ماندم

چه فرمائی مرا تا آن کنم من
مگر این درد را درمان کنم من

ازان پیغام بوشهدی برآشفت
بدان پیغام آرنده چنین گفت

امام خواجه را گو ای زره دور
چو تو حق را نه هم رازی نه دستور

چو حق می کرد در اول پدیدت
نپرسید از تو چون می آفریدت

بمرگت هم نپرسد از تو هیچی
تو خوش می باش حالی چند پیچی

چو بی تو آوریدت در میانه
ترا بی تو برد هم بر کرانه

چو غزالی شنید این شیوه پیغام
دلش خوش گشت و بیرون جست از دام

چو راهت نیست در ملک الهی
چنان نبود که تو خواهی، چه خواهی

English translation

A group supposedly said to Ghazali, 'A heretic wants to kill you like a candle.' He became afraid and sat inside his house, Waiting to see how fortune would deal with him. When staying inside the house dragged on, His heart grew weary of the house all at once. He sent someone to Bu Shahd, saying, 'O knowledgeable master on the path of Truth, Out of fear of the heretics, I have stayed in the house; If I was wise, I have now become mad. What do you advise me to do, So that I may cure this pain?' Upon hearing this message, Bu Shahd became agitated, And said to the messenger: 'Tell the Imam and Master, O you who are far from the path, Since you are neither a confidant nor a minister of God, When God first brought you into existence, He did not ask you how He should create you. At your death, He will not ask you anything either; Be happy now, why do you worry so much? Since He brought you into the midst without you, He will also take you to the shore without you.' When Ghazali heard this message, His heart was comforted, and he leaped out of the trap. Since you have no say in the Divine Kingdom, It will not be as you wish, so what do you want?
