حسن می شد حسینش بود همبر
بجیحون چون رسیدند آن دو سرور

حسن چون بنگریست او را نمی یافت
گهی از پس گهی از پیش بشتافت

بآخر زان سوی جیحونش می دید
مقام از خویشتن افزونش می دید

بدو گفت ای حبیب و مرد درگاه
ز من آموختی آخر تو این راه

چنین برآب چون بشتافتی تو
بچه چیز این کرامت یافتی تو

حسینش گفت ای استاد مطلق
بدان این یافتم من در ره حق

که دل کردن سفیدم بود پیشه
ترا کاغذ سیه کردن همیشه

اگر دل را بگردانی چو مردان
شود خورشید عشقت چرخ گردان

دلی فارغ ز تشبیه وز تعطیل
مبرا از همه تبدیل و تمثیل

زمانی کل شده در قدس پاکی
زمانی آمده در قید خاکی

گهی با خود گهی بیخود دو حالش
که تا هم زین بود هم زان کالش

English translation

Hasan was walking, and Husayn was his companion. When those two leaders reached the Oxus River, Hasan looked but could not find him; He rushed, sometimes behind, sometimes ahead. At last, he saw him on the other side of the Oxus, Seeing his spiritual station to be greater than his own. He said to him, 'O beloved and man of the court, After all, you learned this path from me. How did you hasten across the water like this? By what means did you obtain this miracle?' Husayn said to him, 'O absolute master, Know that I found this on the path of Truth: For my occupation was to make the heart white, While yours was always to make the paper black. If you turn the heart like brave men do, The sun of your love will become a revolving sphere. A heart free from anthropomorphism and divestment, Purified from all alteration and representation. At one moment becoming the All in the holy purity, At another moment coming into the earthly bond. Sometimes with oneself, sometimes beside oneself—these two states— So that his concern is with both this and that.'
