(5) The Tale of Job, Peace Be Upon Him

Original content

English translation

It is related thus that the Prophet Job, Who for a lifetime was distressed in affliction, Having seen suffering from the wolves of the world, And endured much hardship from the worms. Gabriel entered and said, 'O pure one! Why do you remain so? Cry out from your sorrowful soul! For if destruction were to come upon you every moment, The Truth (God) would have no concern for it. If you practice patience for a lifetime, You are not God, even if you hold greater patience. The compass of destiny turns in such a way, That no one is aware of a single point of it. Neither does the heart have news of the heart, nor the soul, Yet the work continues even without this and that.'
