شبی موسی مگر می رفت بر طور
به پیش او رسید ابلیس از دور

چنین گفت آن لعین را کای همه دم
چرا سجده نکردی پیش آدم

لعینش گفت ای مقبول حضرت
شدم بی علتی مردود قدرت

اگر بودی بر آن سجده مرا راه
کلیمی بودمی همچون تو آنگاه

ولی چون حق تعالی این چنین خواست
چه کژ گویم نیامد این چنین راست

کلیمش گفت ای افتاده در بند
بود هرگز ترا یاد خداوند

لعینش گفت چون من مهربانی
فراموشش کند هرگز زمانی

که همچو نانک او را کینهٔ نیست
مرا مهرش درون سینهٔ نیست

بلعنت گرچه از درگاه دورست
ولی از قول موسی در حضورست

اگرچه کرد لعنت دلفروزش
ازان لعنت زیادت گشت سوزش

چو شیطان این چنین گرمست د رراه
تو چونی ای پسر در عشق دلخواه

اگر تو جادوئی می خواهی امروز
بلعنت شاد شو ورنه بیاموز

ببین تا چند گه هاروت و ماروت
بمانده سرنگون بی آب و بی قوت

در آن چاهند دل پر خون و محبوس
شده از روزگار خویش مأیوس

چو ایشانند استاد زمانه
شده در جادوئی هر دو یگانه

چو نتوانند کردن خویش آزاد
کسی زان علم هرگز کی شود شاد

اگر تو جادوئی داری جهانی
عصائی بس نهنگش در زمانی

چو چندان سخر گم شد در عصائی
نگردد گم درو جز ناسزائی

ترا در سینه شیطانیست پیوست
که گردد ز آرزوی جادوئی مست

اگر شیطان تو گردد مسلمان
شود سحر تو فقه و کفر ایمان

ز اهل خلد گردی جاودانه
کند شیطان سجودت بی بهانه

بیان کردم کنون سحر حلالت
کزین سحرست جاویدان کمالت

چو گرد این چنین سحری توان گشت
چنین باید شدن نه آنچنان گشت

English translation

One night, as Moses was going to Mount Sinai, Iblis approached him from afar. He said to that accursed one: 'O you, at every moment, Why did you not prostrate before Adam?' The accursed one said to him: 'O accepted of the Lord's presence, I became rejected by the Divine Power without a cause. If I had a way to that prostration, I would have been a speaker with God like you then. But since God Almighty willed it so, What can I say that is crooked? It did not turn out straight otherwise.' Moses said to him: 'O you who have fallen into bonds, Do you ever remember the Lord?' The accursed one said to him: 'How could a lover like me Forget Him even for a moment? For just as He holds no malice, I have nothing but His love in my chest. Though he is distanced from the court by the curse, Yet, by Moses' own words, he is in the Presence. Although the curse inflamed his heart, From that curse, his burning desire increased.' Since Satan is so ardent on the path, How are you, O son, in the love of your Beloved? If you desire magic today, Rejoice in the curse, otherwise learn. Look how long Harut and Marut Have remained suspended upside down without water or food. In that well, their hearts are filled with blood and they are imprisoned, Having become hopeless of their days. Since they are the masters of the age, Both unique in the art of magic. Since they cannot free themselves, How can anyone ever be happy with that knowledge? If you possess the magic of the world, A staff is enough to become a dragon in an instant. Since so much sorcery was lost in a staff, Nothing is lost in it but what is unworthy. You have a Satan constantly inside your breast, Who becomes intoxicated with the desire for magic. If your Satan becomes a Muslim, Your magic will become jurisprudence and your disbelief faith. You will belong to the people of eternity forever, And Satan will prostrate to you without excuse. I have now explained to you your lawful magic, For from this magic comes your eternal perfection. Since one can revolve around such magic, One must become like this, not like that.'
