پیمبر گفت بس مفسد زنی بود
که در دین همچو گل تر دامنی بود

مگر می رفت در صحرا براهی
پدید آمد میان راه چاهی

سگی را دید آنجا ایستاده
زبانش از تشنگی بیرون فتاده

بشفقت ترک کار خویشتن کرد
ز موزه دلو و از چادر رسن کرد

کشید آبی به سگ داد و خدایش
گرامی کرد در هر دو سرایش

شب معراج دیدم هچو ماهش
بهشت عدن گشته جایگاهش

زنی مفسد سگی راداد آبی
جزا بودش ز حق چندین ثوابی

اگر یک دل کنی آسوده یک دم
ثوابش برنتابد هر دو عالم

برای آنکه دل با خویش باشد
ثوابش از دو گیتی بیش باشد

ز ابلیسی خود گر پاک گردی
چو آدم سخت نیکو خاک گردی

چو ابلیسی منی آورد جانت
کی از رحمت بود بر جاودانت

English translation

The Prophet said: There was a highly immoral woman, Who, in matters of faith, had an impure skirt (was sinful). By chance, she was walking on a path in the desert, And a well appeared along the way. She saw a dog standing there, Its tongue hanging out from thirst. Out of compassion, she set aside her own affairs; She made a bucket of her shoe and a rope of her chador. She drew water, gave it to the dog, and her God Honored her in both of His realms. On the night of Ascension, I saw her shining like the moon, The Garden of Eden having become her resting place. An immoral woman gave water to a dog, And her recompense from God was such immense reward! If you bring comfort to a single heart for just one moment, The reward for it cannot be contained by both worlds. For when a heart finds peace with itself, Its reward surpasses both universes. If you cleanse yourself of your devilish nature, Like Adam, you will become the most excellent dust. But when your soul harbors devilish egoism, How can there be mercy upon you for eternity?
