یکی اعرابی آمد پیش مهتر
کنار خویش محکم کرده در بر

بدو گفتا که من اسلام آرم
اگر گوئی چه دارم در کنارم

پیمبر گفت داری یک کبوتر
گرفته دو کبوتر بچه در بر

ز صدق معجز آن صدر عالی
به صدق دل مسلمان گشت حالی

بدو گفت این که گفتت ای پیمبر
پیمبر گفت حق سلطان اکبر

در آن دم هر که آنجا از عرب بود
ز بهر آن کبوتر در عجب بود

که آن هر دو کبوتر بچه در هم
بزیر پرکشیده بود محکم

پیمبر گفت ای اصحاب و انصار
شما را چه عجب آید ازین کار

بحق آن خدائی کاشکارا
بخلق خود فرستادست ما را

که بر هر عاصئی کاندر جهانست
خدا صد بار مشفق تر ازانست

که این مادر بدین دو بچه امروز
کزو گشتید جمله شفقت آموز

English translation

A Bedouin came before the Leader, holding something tightly in his bosom. He said to him: 'I will accept Islam, if you can tell me what I have in my bosom.' The Prophet said: 'You have a pigeon, holding two pigeon chicks in her embrace.' By the truth of the miracle of that exalted leader, he became a Muslim with a sincere heart right away. He asked him: 'Who told you this, O Prophet?' The Prophet said: 'God, the Supreme Sovereign.' At that moment, whoever from among the Arabs was there was in wonder because of that pigeon, for those two pigeon chicks together she had gathered tightly under her wings. The Prophet said: 'O Companions and Helpers, why are you so amazed by this? By the truth of that God Who openly has sent us to His creation, that toward every sinner who is in the world, God is a hundred times more compassionate and loving than this mother is toward these two chicks today, from whom you all learned compassion.'
