(۸) حکایت ماه و رشک او برخورشید / (8) The Tale of the Moon and Its Jealousy of the Sun

تو نشنیدی که پرسیدند از ماه
که تو چه دوست تر داری درین راه

چنین گفت او که آن خواهم که خورشید
بگیرد تا بود در پرده جاوید

همیشه روی خواهم زیر میغش
که هم از چشم خود دارم دریغش

English translation

Have you not heard what they asked the moon: 'What do you love most on this path?' It replied: 'I desire that the sun Be eclipsed, so it remains forever behind a veil. I always wish its face to be beneath a cloud, Because I even begrudge my own eyes from seeing it.'
