یکی پیری بخاری بود در راه
مخنث پیشهٔ را دید ناگاه

چو او را دید تر دامن بعالم
کشید از ننگ او دامن فراهم

مخنث گفت ای مرد بخارا
نشد نقد من و تو آشکارا

مشو امروز نقدت را خریدار
که فردا نقدها گردد پدیدار

چو مقبولی و مردودی عیان نیست
ترا از خویش سود از من زیان نیست

چو تو کوری خود می بینی امروز
چرا دامن ز من در چینی امروز

ولی امروز می باید مقامت
که تا فردا رسد خطی بنامت

چو بشنید این سخن آن مرد از وی
بخاک افتاد دل پر درد از وی

دلا امروز نقد تو که دیدست
که دل از وی بظاهر در کشیدست

تفحص گر کنی از نقد جانت
تحیر بیش گردد هر زمانت

بفرمان رو چو داری اختیاری
دگر با هیچ کارت نیست کاری

ازینجا گر نکو ور بد برندت
چو بیخود آمدی بیخود برندت

English translation

There was an old man of Bukhara on the way, Suddenly he saw an effeminate man. When he saw him, stained in the world, He pulled his skirt close to himself out of shame of him. The effeminate man said: 'O man of Bukhara, The true worth of you and me is not yet revealed. Do not buy your own cash today, For tomorrow the true values of all cash will become apparent. Since acceptance or rejection is not obvious, You gain no profit from yourself, and I do you no harm. Since you see your own blindness today, Why do you pull your skirt away from me today? But today you must remain in your station, Until tomorrow when a decree is issued in your name.' When the old man heard these words from him, He fell to the ground, his heart filled with pain because of him. O heart, who has seen your value today, That the heart has seemingly withdrawn from it? If you inspect the value of your soul, Your bewilderment will increase at every moment. Go by command, for what choice do you have? You have no business with anything else. Whether they take you from here as good or bad, Since you came unconscious, they will take you unconscious.
