(4) The Tale of the Prophet on the Night of Ascension

Original content

English translation

The Prophet on the night of ascension suddenly Saw a great sea on the way. A great host of angels standing around it, Each unleashing a flood from their eyes. The Prophet said, 'O pure ones, all at once, Why do you weep continuously so bitterly?' When they were given the command from the absolute unseen, They opened their tongues before the Messenger, 'Ever since this curved celestial sphere was formed, God created us from light. And from that time on, we have been weeping, For a group of your community, who on this path Think they are admitted, yet they are not in the court; Who think they are at work, yet they are doing no work. They do not know, and because of the illusion they hold, They spend a lifetime in that illusion. With this coin you hold and know, How are you trading? If you had sorrow for your faith for even a moment, You would not suffer loss in your faith at every breath. Do the work, since here is the place for the man of work, For when you go there, you will be under a burden. Alas! Your abundant profit turned into a loss, For your path vanished, and the caravan departed. Alas! You cast your life to the wind, You did not do justice to your life properly. What more life do you want from the Truth, When you do not even know the value of this amount? One who did not recognize the value of a single grain of life, Cannot be exalted by a treasure of life. Do not give your life to the wind in vain, For life and existence rest upon the wind. Such a life that if you want a single moment of it, No one will ever sell it to you, even for a soul.'
