مگر یحیی معاذ آن مرد محرم
براهی بر دهی بگذشت خرم
یکی گفتش که هست این ده دهی خوش
زبان بگشاد یحیی همچو آتش
کزین خوشتر دل مردیست بالغ
که هست او از ده خوش سخت فارغ
English translation
Once Yahya ibn Mu'adh, that intimate man, Passed happily by a village on a path. Someone said to him: 'This is a pleasant village.' Yahya opened his tongue like fire, 'More pleasant than this is the heart of a mature man, Who is completely detached from any pleasant village.'
