پسر گفتش بهر پندم که دادی
بهر پندی مرابندی گشادی

مرا صد مشکل از پند تو حل شد
مس من با زر رکنی بدل شد

سخنهای تو یکسر سودمندست
بغایت هم مفید و هم بلندست

ولی زانم هوای کیمیا خاست
کزو هم دین و هم دنیا شود راست

که چون دنیا و دین بر هم زند دست
بدست آید مرا معشوق پیوست

که تادنیا و دینم یار نبود
مرا از یار استظهار نبود

English translation

The son said to him: 'With every piece of advice you gave me, With every advice you unlocked a shackle from me. A hundred problems of mine were solved by your counsel, My copper was transformed into Rukni gold. Your words are entirely beneficial, To the utmost, they are both useful and lofty. But from that, a desire for alchemy arose in me, So that by it both religion and the world might be set straight. For when the world and religion join hands, The Beloved will be attained by me constantly. For as long as the world and my religion are not my companions, I would have no support from the Beloved.'
