جواب پدر / The Father's Answer

پدر گفتش درین شوریده زندان
بطاعت می توان شد از بلندان

اگر خواهی بلندی بر پر از چاه
که آن از طاعتی یابی نه ازجاه

پیمبر گفت: آخر وصف مستور
که آن از مغز صدیقان بود دور

بلاشک حب جاه و حب مالست
ترا این جاه جستن پس وبالست

اگرچه در ره حق خاص خاصی
شوی گر جاه یابی مرد عاصی

چنان از تو برآرد جاه دودی
که نبود از تدارک هیچ سودی

English translation

The father said to him: 'In this chaotic prison, One can become one of the exalted through obedience. If you desire elevation, fly up from the well, Which you shall attain through obedience, not through status. The Prophet said: in the end, the description of what is hidden, Which is far from the intellect of the truthful, Is undoubtedly the love of status and the love of wealth. Your seeking of this status is therefore a burden to you. Even if you are the select of the select in the path of Truth, If you attain status, you will become a rebellious man. Status will raise such smoke from you That there will be no benefit from any remedy.'
