(3) The Tale of Joseph, Peace Be Upon Him, with Benjamin
Original content
English translation
A master said: When Joseph desired To make his heart sincere with Benjamin, To become one with him in heart in sincerity, And to hold a private audience with him in solitude, He placed the cup in his pack for this purpose, And attributed theft to him—what a strange affair! Thus said that master of religion, that truly, The very same has occurred with Iblis. He drove him from the door, and for the sake of this secret, He distinguished him in the horizons through curse. He clothed him with the garment of His wrath for this reason, That He might veil him from the eyes of the common folk in His wrath. He is stationed at this threshold constantly, Holding a weapon of wrath in his hand. First, unless you seek refuge from him, You cannot set foot in the Divine realm. He is attached to this door day and night for this reason, That he may strike the hands of the sinful. The touchstone of men's currency is in his hand; From east to west, he stands in the queue. Whoever brings counterfeit currency there, Immediately receives a blow from Iblis's blade. Thus says Iblis to the owner of the currency: 'O you who have snatched the ball of deception from me, My Lord flung back my thousands of years of obedience Unto my face in half an hour. You have grown warm with this single atom of obedience, Bringing it before the Truth, and you have no shame? If all the creatures of the world curse me, The love in my soul will not decrease by an atom. If a single person calls you accursed, In one hour you collapse from misery. From the start, be a warrior of the path like true men, And only then sacrifice your soul before the King. Why is Iblis small in your eyes, When he became a highwayman to the great ones through deception? Know for certain that there are tempters who exist Who have broken the necks of a hundred like you. Although they are kings over you, They are but a beggar in the Sultan's army. If the beggar of the demon is your king, How can Islam be your path? Not for a moment is Iblis free from this burning; Learn manliness from the accursed Iblis! When a man enters the field of manliness, Everything from the Truth becomes worthy of him.'
