جهان را هم امام و هم خلیفه
کرا میدانی الا بوحنیفه

جهان علم و دریای معانی
امام اول و لقمان ثانی

اگر اعدای دین بسیار جمعند
ز کار بوحنیفه سر چو شمعند

چراغ امت آمد آن سرافراز
چراغی کو عدو را مینهد گاز

قضا کردند بر وی عرضه ناگاه
بنپذیرفت یعنی جان آگاه

قضا را و قدر را معتبر یافت
ولیکن این قضا اندر قدر یافت

چو نعمان سرخ روی حق چو لالهست
قضا چکند بشاگردش حوالهست

قضا در جنگ او آمد فروتر
که از یوسف همه چیزی نکوتر

چو تو یوسف قضا را این زمان بس
مرا قاضی اکبر جاودان بس

چودر دین محمد داد دین داد
محمد را چنین بود و چنین داد

چو او استاد دین آمد در اسرار
چو تو بگذشتی از قرآن و اخبار

اگر در فقه صد جامع کبیرست
ز یک شاگردش آن جامع صغیرست

مجرد شو اگر کوفی شعاری
برافشان چون الف چیزی که داری

ره کوفیت میباید روان شو
الف دانی تو باری همچنان شو

English translation

Who do you know as both the leader and the caliph of the world, except Abu Hanifah? He is the world of knowledge and the ocean of meanings, the first leader and a second Luqman. Even if the enemies of the faith gather in great numbers, they consume themselves like candles in the face of Abu Hanifah's deeds. That exalted one became the lamp of the community, a lamp that snuffs out the enemy. They suddenly offered him the post of judge, but that conscious soul did not accept it. He held fate and destiny in high regard, yet he saw this judicial office within the realm of divine destiny. Since Nu'man is red-faced with truth like a tulip, what can judgeship do? It was referred to his disciple. Judgeship came down to contend with him, but everything of Joseph is more beautiful. 'While a Joseph like you finds judgeship sufficient at this time, for me, the Supreme Judge is eternally enough.' Since he did justice to the faith within the religion of Muhammad, Muhammad was pleased with him and gave him such a station. Since he became the master of religion in spiritual secrets, whereas you have passed over the Quran and traditions. If there are a hundred copies of 'Al-Jami' al-Kabir' in jurisprudence, compared to one of his students, that work is but 'Al-Jami' al-Saghir'. Become detached if you follow the ways of Kufa; cast away whatever you possess, like the letter Alif. If you must travel the path of Kufa, set forth; if you know the Alif, stand upright like it.
