Section 3 - On the Virtue of the Commander of the Faithful Uthman, May Allah Be Pleased with Him

Original content

English translation

The commander of the people of religion, the master of the Quran, The Commander of the Faithful, Uthman [ibn] Affan. He was chosen by the Master of the two worlds, By being his son-in-law, he became the Possessor of the Two Lights (Dhu'l-Nurayn). If forbearance and modesty were to take form, They would be illuminated by the Possessor of the Two Lights. Modesty is faith, or a part of faith; In whichever way it is, it is from the light of Uthman. He is the gemstone on the ring of forbearance and modesty, The leader of the free and the crown of the generous. When the Divine Registry was compiled, A trace of his eternal nature was cast into the universe. We are all guests at his gathering, We are all recipients of stipends from his registry. In the first part of his life, he dedicated himself to the Quran of God, In the end, he sacrificed himself for the Truth of God. So much did he consume the blood of the Quran (absorbed himself in it) from the beginning, That perhaps the Quran, in turn, consumed his blood. He had attained the presence of the Dye of Allah (Sibghatallah), When his blood suddenly became the Dye of Allah. Who did that for the sake of this treacherous world? I know not who would allow such a deed. They did not even desire this treacherous world, Yet they treated the men of religion in this way. One was slain over the copy of the Quran, One was easily slain in the midst of prayer, One had poison cast into his heart, One was left headless in Karbala. Pass from this; belong to God, for He is the Origin, Then lay down your head and withdraw, O friend.
