Section 6 - The Tale and the Parable

Original content

English translation

Thus spoke that great chosen one, That Paradise is already created at this time, But Paradise will only become complete When the people of Resurrection enter it. If a houri were to appear in this world, These people would faint until the Hereafter. You do not have the endurance today, here, To see the soul-illuminating houri here. What strength there will be in your soul That tomorrow you will have the endurance of a hundred times more! You are that detached, fallen point Who will reach maturity in Eternity. Maturity is here, its purity is in the Hereafter; Your heart is here, its light is in Paradise. The doors and walls of Paradise are made of life, Its earth and sky are salvation. Its tree is truthfulness, sincerity, and piety, All the fruit of the tree are the secrets of meaning. The pure tree (Shajarah Tayyibah) will grow there, Where hands and feet will speak. Did the Master not say that here good fortune Plants a tree there with every good deed? There will remain no relatives, no worldly means, For lineages there will be the offspring of deeds. Many a man there will be the 'Father of Prayer', Many a woman will then be the 'Sister of Almsgiving'. It will not cross your heart how it actually is, Nor will it enter your soul that this is from the world. The whole universe is boiling with houris, They are alive like nails, and silent. They are all doors and walls, But they are all hidden behind the veil. The earths and heavens are full of angels, How can you see, when your eye is made of clay? Whenever you step out of your clay nature, You will see both worlds right now. The meaning of everything will become evident to you, What am I saying? If only you knew one of them! The life you have seen is play and amusement; You have only heard the name of the 'pure life'. Life, O friend, has fallen fold upon fold within you, Within each fold, a kind is placed. When you heard 'Am I not [your Lord]?', where were you? You did not exist, existence was what you heard. You had a life then, and now too, See how these two lives are the same. Since you have no news to speak of one, And there is no trace of that kind of life in you, Since you are clueless about your speech and life, How can you know the life and speech of an atom? May God not forgive him in the Hereafter Who says this kind of meaning is philosophy! These secrets are from another cup, A philosopher has no business with these words. The realized one sees this with a sharp eye, He sees the two worlds as entirely one thing. He sees the entire world as having been a bond, He grinds all those bonds to dust. He gives it to the wind so no twist remains, When he becomes nothing, nothing remains of him. Whoever saw this and whose eye found this purity, Found it by the light of the breast of the world, Mustafa. If you become pure and detached from the two worlds, It will not come right without the light of Muhammad. If you are like dust on the path of Muhammad, Both worlds will become your dust out of purity. Tell him to stay away from the words of philosophers, Be separated from intellect and cleverness. If you bind the image of these secrets with intellect, You will tie the zunar among the infidels. Beyond the intellect is so much greater length, That the distance of imagination is greater in depth. Since you have no hand in anything but cleverness, 'Only what is inside the jug oozes out of it.' Let me tell you my belief, Although how will this become more with you? The same religion that a handful of old women held, Is my religion, this is the true word. Know much, and when it made one helpless like me, By the Truth, this is the 'religion of old women'. That old woman completely gave her acknowledgment, You have denial on the path in every detail. Since you are without the cause of 'how and why', If you come, you will not come without a cause.
