بدان ای پاک دین گر پاک آیی
که آن ساعت که زیر خاک آیی

قدم بیرون نهی از کوی دنیا
نبینی نیز هرگز روی دنیا

چو رفتی رفتی از دنیا و رفتی
دگر هرگز به دنیا در نیفتی

به عقبی بارگاهی یابی از نور
بپوشی حله و در بر کشی حور

وگر آلایشی داری ز کاری
در آلایش بمانی روزگاری

همه شرکت حواس تست در راه
همه ابلیس و همت دیو بدخواه

همه مرگ تو خوی ناخوش تست
همه خشمت به دوزخ آتش تست

هر آنگه کز جهان رفتی تو بیرون
نخواهد بود حالت از دو بیرون

اگر آلوده ای پالوده گردی
وگر پالوده ای آسوده گردی

چو تو آلوده باشی و گنهکار
کنندت در نهاد خود گرفتار

وگر پالوده دل باشی تو در راه
فشانان دست بخرامی به درگاه

فراز عیش و شیب و جاه با توست
بهشت و دوزخت همراه با توست

همی تا تو چگونه رفت خواهی
درین ره بر چه پهلو خفت خواهی

اگر در پرده ای در پرده باشی
در آن چیزی که در وی مرده باشی

نمیرد هیچ بینادل سفیهی
نخیزد هیچ کناسی فقیهی

English translation

Know, O one of pure faith, if you arrive pure, That the moment you go beneath the earth, You step out of the alleyway of this world, And you will never see the face of the world again. When you are gone, you are gone from the world and departed; You will never again drop into this world. In the Hereafter, you will find a court of light; You will don heavenly robes and embrace houris. But if you have a stain from any deed, You will remain in that stain for an age. All your polytheism on the path is your own senses; They are all your Satan and malevolent demon. All your death is your own unpleasant disposition; All your anger is your fire in Hell. Whenever you depart from this world, Your condition will not fall outside of two: If you are polluted, you will be cleansed; And if you are pure, you will be at peace. When you are polluted and a sinner, They will trap you within your own nature. And if you are pure-hearted on the path, You will stride joyfully with swinging hands to the divine court. The heights of joy, the depths, and status are within you; Your Heaven and Hell accompany you. It all depends on how you will depart, And on which side you will sleep on this path. If you are veiled, you will remain veiled, Within the very thing in which you died. No fool dies an enlightened soul; No scavenger rises as a scholar.
