Section 7 - The Tale and the Parable

English translation

A naive one asked in this manner From that righteous Sultan, the Pir of Bastam: "Why is the universe the way it is, That one is the sky and this one is the earth? Since that one is constantly in motion, Why does this one stand still here? Why do these seven spheres revolve over one another here? Why is there a specific place for this world here?" That absolute Sultan answered him, "Listen to this truthful answer from us: Listen to the words, neither distress your heart nor turn your head, For it is only what you see, and nothing else. Since we do not speak of causes in the absolute principle, Indeed, we do not seek causes in the branches either. When the philosophical intellect fell into seeking causes, It lost the fortune of the religion of Mustafa. There is no ambiguity or causality in religion; This religion and creed are nothing but surrender. Beyond our intellect, there is a royal court, But the philosopher only has one eye on the path. Whoever asked 'why' spoke in error; Tell me, why should one even ask 'why'? 'Why' and 'how' are the flora and soil of illusion; Only someone with pure understanding grasps this. O dear one, you have heard the secret of soul and body, You have extracted the essence from the kernel of every word. Illuminate body and soul with secrets, Otherwise, body and soul will become captive. Since you see the mutual reliance of both, Their captivity is intertwined as well. If you seek an analogy for the soul and body from me: They are like the blind and the paralyzed on the road."
