English translation

There is no praise among the lords of insight Worthy of the foremost and the full moon of creation. When this supplicant trembles in awe How can his tongue become a speaker of praise? Since the bounty of his essence is beyond speech The tongue ceases to work, what room is there for speech? What praise can I say? God has praised him For his name is paired with the name of God. Muhammad, truthful in speech, trustworthy A mercy to the worlds for the universe. Muhammad, who is the sign of creation The exalted one who is the crown of the proud. Muhammad, the best of both worlds The order of religion and the world, the pride of Adam. In essence, the pearl of the casket of prophethood In meaning, the star of the constellation of chivalry. The teacher of the signs of the eternal secret The world-illuminator of the realm of high ranks. The speaker of the akin secret of kingship The knower of the enigmas of divine secrets. The world is but a sweeper of his court The sky is but a dervish in his monastery. Adam was still between water and clay When he was the king of the world of soul and heart. In Adam there was a light from his existence Otherwise, when would the angels have prostrated to him? Since the world held his light in trust It came down from Adam to Abdullah. It passed through so many prophets From among them all, it came to the head like a pearl. From each stage as it went to the next Though it was ripe, it became riper. When at last all works were completed Though he came late, he came fully ripe. Since he kept seclusion for forty years before the revelation The Trustworthy of Revelation brought the revelation instantly. The peacock of the angels came forward The holy ones following him in summation. Gabriel the trustworthy quickly let out a cry Saying, 'O Master, open your tongue, come, quickly! Make your light-filled heart a sea of religion Speak the words of the revelation of the Lord of the Worlds. In the music of the unseen, you are worthy of gratitude For you know the modes of these nine veils. You are the one present to the comprehended secrets Do not be silent, "Read in the name of your Lord." When the moon and sun are enveloped in cloaks Throw off the cloak from your head, "Arise and warn." You are the king, and all horizons are your cavalry You are the origin, and the whole world is contingent on you. Call the people to the Truth and be a guide You are upon the Truth, act as a prophet in truth.' When the Truth sent revelation from the light of the soul Then the 'teaching of the Quran' was remembered by him. At last, when he became a pioneer in the invitation The law became new and Islam became new. He guided a world in meaning He extracted the oil from the kernel of every speech. The overturning of every innovation was from him For the light of the jewel of fortune was from him. When the light of his fortune shone but a speck The moon and sun received their light from that speck. He came in with his musky tresses spread Placing the crown of 'By your life' upon his head. From his hair, musk was blown into the world From his face, light reached the heavens. The three dimensions perfumed by the scent of his hair The two universes illuminated by the light of his face. Hail the sun of his heart-stealing face Which keeps the sky under its shadow. Hail the musk of his two black tresses For every hair has a hundred souls in its refuge. From the Divine Presence, his chest found its fullness of light From Paradise, he found grapes during his prayer. Within his soul, each of those grapes Became like the Pleiades cluster, all light. Though his soul was full of light from the Truth He suffered greatly from the disbelievers. Sometimes a stone broke his tooth Sometimes his feet swelled from worship. Sometimes he placed the hand of sorrow upon his heart Sometimes from weakness he tied a stone to his stomach. Since the world and the hereafter were for his sake The sky rubbed the difficulties of affliction for him. Therefore, he had to endure so much suffering Because without suffering, you will not win the treasure. According to the belief of that commentator who is trustworthy Even if to some it is otherwise... When he turned a ring Gabriel came to judge that matter. Saying, 'O Master, keep your heart away from the ring For working with a ring does not give light. The sky, for your sake, has a ringed back Why did you busy yourself with your finger? You have a heart held between the fingers of the Merciful Do not look at a ring like Solomon did. Though a ring may be in your name If you make it of gold, that too is forbidden. Turn a rosary on your finger For the rosary belongs on the fingers of true men. Since the moon became a thimble for you You struck your finger in the eye of time. In every finger, you hold more than a hundred arts Why bring your heart to a ring? It is fitting if you tie a string around your finger So that compassion comes to your mind. You will not endure the reprimand of the Almighty If without Us, you dip your finger in water. Do not turn away from Us by a single hair's breadth Do not let down a single hair from your finger. Since you have a sound finger in the work Bring it out from beneath the bloody cotton. Take account on your finger with yourself So that the final day becomes easy ahead of you.' (God said:) 'I wrap this point around your finger Because, other than you, no one is of any value to me. I placed my finger on your word for this That you are the student and I am the Master. Did you not, with a hundred souls from the knowledge of the Quran Place your finger on the tablet before Us? In the war of Mecca, from the coolness of the fingertips Kingship was achieved by your finger. A pen has never been in your finger Yet all this honor for the people of the pen comes from you.' From your honor, intellect and soul remain bewildered Wisdom remains with its finger in its teeth. The two worlds from beginning to end are contingent on you The Day of Resurrection is equal to a single finger of yours. You cast no shadow, and before you, the sun Sucks the finger of hope like a child. The sun pitched its tent in the sky Because it dipped one finger into salt with you. Since you have Khidr's spring in your fist Bring forth a spring from beneath each finger. Step onto the Throne from the expanse of the carpet For from your crown it is but a finger's breadth to the Throne. If Gabriel were to advance by a single finger His wings would burn like a finger. From your light, the holy angels open their wings And point to you with their fingers to one another. No messenger like you ever sat for prophethood For not all fingers on a hand are equal. He who has sweets placed before him Does not necessarily have longer fingers. Go, place your finger on the pulse of Siddiq For he has a heart full of the light of realization. Tell Umar to rise in righteous anger And strike Satan with his finger in the eye. Tell Uthman to make his back strong with the Quran To turn each leaf of the Quran with his finger. Tell Ali, in obedience To give away his ring during prayer. Go, bring judgment to the idolaters Make the world their ring. If they suddenly ask a miracle of you Point with one finger toward the moon. With your truthfulness, make religion honored Break the moon of the heavens with a finger. Your envious rival bites his finger in sorrow While you split the moon in two with a finger. The fingertip that avoided your religion Hang him by a fingertip with a hemp rope. From a handful of raw cattle of the age Withdraw your finger from the poisoned kid goat. If you lean a fingertip towards the earth At that time, no one will guard your religion. Recite the Quran, O friend, do not be silent Even if the disbeliever puts his fingers in his ears. When Bilal puts his fingers in his ears He quiets all other speech. If they strike a heavy stone against your lips Go, place your finger on your lips and do not breathe a word. For when the time comes, by that very stone I will make the world tight for those hard-hearted ones. Hail the rank, hail the power, hail the worth! Hail the companion, hail the truthful, hail the chief! Hail the emperor-like mark of the earthly realm! Hail the sultan of the kingdom of the heavens! Hail! The glorious Throne is your threshold! Hail! The seven heavens are but one room for you! Hail the most excellent person among the prophets! Hail the most intimate confidant of God! Hail! The commander of the army of your generosity is the ocean! Hail! The night-watchman beating the wood on your roof are the stars! Hail! You who are present to the divine secrets! Supported by you is everything from the moon to the fish! Hail! The darkened sky out of reverence Has made kohl from your dust for the eyes of the stars! At the Resurrection, Adam and all below him together Will all stand with folded hands beneath your banner. Fifty gatekeepers like Jesus stand at your door For Moses, son of Imran, acts as Aaron at your door. The chief of the ancients, the great Idris Through your light became an intimate of the sanctuary. When the Friend of God found your name as the seal of his soul He found a ready paradise within the fire from that. Without you, Ishmael remained in mourning Hoping that perhaps he could be sacrificed in your path. With a hundred sweet, soul-burning melodies, David Has sung the Psalms of your love night and day. Solomon, though he possesses that great kingdom Is but a single soldier in your army. Jesus the dyer, from this turning indigo Sews your name onto his soul with a needle. All the prophets are in your assembly But no one has been your intimate companion except God. Adam's veil was a few grains of wheat Neither wheat nor Paradise became a bond for you. Moses's veil on the path was his sandals But you passed beyond the two worlds with your sandals on. Jesus's veil on the path was a needle But for you, there was a window at every station. You are the night-illuminating pearl for the prophets You are the true candle for the saints. You are the lamp of the four arches and the eight gardens On the night of Ascension, you are a luminous gem in the dark.
