غلامی با طبق می رفت خاموش
طبق را سر بپوشیده به سرپوش

یکی گفتش چه داری بر طبق تو ؟
مکن کژی بگو با من به حق تو ؟

غلامش گفت ای سرگشته ! خاموش
چرا پوشیده اند این بر تو سر پوش

ز روی عقل اگر بایستی این راز
که تو دانستیی ، بودی سرش باز

که می داند که چرخ سالخورده ؟
چه می سازد به زیر هفت پرده ؟

سپهر بوالعجب زو پر شگفت است
که یک یک دورهٔ او ناگرفته ست

به پیش چار طاق هفت پوشش
بدین بارو که یارد کرد کوشش

فلک را کیسه پردازی ست پیوست
که کارش بوالعجب بازی ست پیوست

ز پرگاری که در بر می بگردد
ز بس سرگشتگی سر می بگردد

که داند کاین فلک ها را چه دور است ؟!
نهان در زیر هر دورش چه جور است

ازین گلشن که گل هاش از ستاره ست
چو بی کاران نصیب ما نظاره ست

بداند هرکه دارد در هنر دست
که او را جز روش کاری دگر هست

فلک جستی بسی ، زد در تک و تاز
نیافت از هیچ سو گم کرده را باز

English translation

A servant was walking silently with a tray, The tray's top was covered with a lid. Someone asked him, 'What do you have on your tray? Do not be evasive, tell me the truth.' The servant replied to him, 'O bewildered one! Be silent. Why have they put a lid over this for you? According to reason, if this secret was meant For you to know, its lid would be open.' Who knows what the ancient sphere Is crafting beneath the seven veils? The wondrous heaven is full of marvels, For every one of its cycles is ungrasped. Before the four arches and seven coverings, At this fortress, who dares to make an effort? The sky is constantly devising tricks, For its work is constantly a wondrous game. From the compass that revolves around, Out of sheer bewilderment, the head spins. Who knows what cycle these heavens have?! Hidden beneath every cycle, what tyranny lies. From this rose garden whose roses are of stars, Like idle ones, our lot is merely to gaze. Whoever has a hand in mastery knows, That it has another work besides just moving. The heaven searched much, running and rushing, It did not find the lost one from any direction again.
