یکی از بایزید این شیوه درخواست
که هرچیزی که پنهانست و پیداست

ز عرش و فرش و کونین این همه چیست
همه گفتا منم چون مردم از زیست

هر آنگه کین نهاد او هم فروشد
همین عالم همان عالم فروشد

نماند هیچ اگر تو می نمانی
که تو هم این جهان هم آن جهانی

از آنگه باز کین عالم نهادند
بنا بر قالب آدم نهادند

نهادی بوالعجب داری تو در اصل
بلاسی کرده اندر اطلسی وصل

اگر صد قرن می گردی چو پرگار
نیاید وصل گاه تو پدیدار

اگر بر آسمان گر بر زمینی
جزین چیزی که می بینی نبینی

وگر در جوهرت چشمی شود باز
دو عالم بر تو افشانند از آغاز

در آن ساعت که آن چشم آیدت پیش
دو عالم در تو گم گردد تو در خویش

تویی آن جوهری گر می ندانی
که برتر زین جهان و آن جهانی

English translation

Someone asked Bayazid in this manner, 'Everything that is hidden and manifest, From the Throne and the earth and the two worlds, what is all this?' He said, 'It is all me, for when I depart from life, Whenever this constitution collapses, This very world and that very world collapse. Nothing remains if you do not remain, For you are both this world and that world. From the time they laid the foundation of this world, They built it upon the mold of mankind. You have a wondrous nature in your essence, Having patched coarse canvas into fine satin. If you circle like a compass for a hundred centuries, The place of your joining will not appear. Whether you are in heaven or on earth, You will see nothing but this which you see. But if an eye opens in your essence, Both worlds will be scattered upon you from the beginning. At the hour when that eye opens for you, Both worlds will be lost in you, and you in yourself. You are that essence, if you do not know, That is higher than this world and that world.'
