Abbasah's Discourse on Love and Gnosis

Original content

English translation

Abbasah said to someone, 'O man of love, If a particle of the pain of love shines upon anyone, If he is a man, a woman is born of him, And if she is a woman, indeed many a man comes from her. Have you not seen a woman who was born from Adam? Have you not heard of a man who was born from Mary? Until that which is necessary shines completely, Your work will never open up for you. When it shines, the kingdom will be obtained by you, And whatever comes to your heart will be achieved. Know this to be the true kingdom and count this as fortune, Count a particle of this as a whole world of religion. If you are content with the kingdom of this world, You will remain wasted and lost for all eternity. Permanent sovereignty lies in gnosis, Strive so that this attribute is attained. Whoever is intoxicated by the world of gnosis Will be a king over all the people of the world. The kingdom of the world becomes a mere trifle before him, And the nine heavens become a ship in his ocean. If the kings of the era only knew The taste of one drink from this shoreless ocean, They would all sit in mourning from grief, And would not look at one another's faces out of pain.'
