دفتر دوم - بخش ۷۹ - اندیشیدن یکی از صحابه بانکار کی رسول چرا ستاری نمی‌کند / Book Two - Section 79 - One of the Companions Thinking with Objection as to Why the Messenger Does Not Cover Faults

تا یکی یاری ز یاران رسول
در دلش انکار آمد زان نکول

که چنین پیران با شیب و وقار
می کندشان این پیمبر شرمسار

کو کرم کو سترپوشی کو حیا
صد هزاران عیب پوشند انبیا

باز در دل زود استغفار کرد
تا نگردد ز اعتراض او روی زرد

شومی یاری اصحاب نفاق
کرد مؤمن را چو ایشان زشت و عاق

باز می زارید کای علام سر
مر مرا مگذار بر کفران مصر

دل به دستم نیست همچون دید چشم
ورنه دل را سوزمی این دم ز خشم

اندرین اندیشه خوابش در ربود
مسجد ایشانش پر سرگین نمود

سنگهاش اندر حدث جای تباه
می دمید از سنگها دود سیاه

دود در حلقش شد و حلقش بخست
از نهیب دود تلخ از خواب جست

در زمان در رو فتاد و می گریست
کای خدا اینها نشان منکریست

خلم بهتر از چنین حلم ای خدا
که کند از نور ایمانم جدا

گر بکاوی کوشش اهل مجاز
تو بتو گنده بود همچون پیاز

هر یکی از یکدگر بی مغزتر
صادقان را یک ز دیگر نغزتر

صد کمر آن قوم بسته بر قبا
بهر هدم مسجد اهل قبا

همچو آن اصحاب فیل اندر حبش
کعبه ای کردند حق آتش زدش

قصد کعبه ساختند از انتقام
حالشان چون شد فرو خوان از کلام

مر سیه رویان دین را خود جهیز
نیست الا حیلت و مکر و ستیز

هر صحابی دید زان مسجد عیان
واقعه تا شد یقینشان سر آن

واقعات ار باز گویم یک بیک
پس یقین گردد صفا بر اهل شک

لیک می ترسم ز کشف رازشان
نازنینانند و زیبد نازشان

شرع بی تقلید می پذرفته اند
بی محک آن نقد را بگرفته اند

حکمت قرآن چو ضالهٔ مؤمن است
هر کسی در ضالهٔ خود موقن است

English translation

Until one of the friends from the companions of the Messenger, In his heart, objection arose from that rejection: 'That such elders with gray hair and dignity, This Prophet is putting them to shame! Where is generosity, where is the covering of faults, where is modesty? The prophets cover hundreds of thousands of faults.' Again, he quickly sought forgiveness in his heart, So that his face would not turn yellow (with shame) from his objection. The ill omen of befriending the companions of hypocrisy, Made the believer ugly and disobedient like them. Again he pleaded, 'O Knower of secrets, Do not leave me persisting in ingratitude. The heart is not in my hand, just like the sight of the eye, Otherwise, I would burn the heart this moment out of anger.' In this thought, sleep snatched him away; It showed their mosque full of dung to him. Its stones in filth, a place of ruin, Black smoke was blowing from the stones. The smoke went into his throat and wounded his throat; From the dread of the bitter smoke, he sprang from sleep. Instantly he fell on his face and wept, 'O God, these are the signs of a denier! Mucus is better than such forbearance, O God, That separates me from the light of faith. If you dig into the effort of the people of illusion, Layer by layer it will be stinking like an onion. Each one more coreless than the other, While the sincere ones are each finer than the other. A hundred belts that group fastened over their robes, To destroy the mosque of the people of Quba. Just like those Companions of the Elephant in Abyssinia, They made a Kaaba, and the Truth (God) set fire to it. They aimed at the Kaaba out of revenge; How their state turned out, recite from the Word (Quran). For the black-faced ones of religion, their only equipment Is nothing but trickery, deceit, and strife. Every companion clearly saw from that mosque The event, until its secret became certain to them. If I relate the events one by one, Then purity will become certain for the people of doubt. But I fear the revelation of their secret, They are the beloveds, and their coquetry is fitting. They have accepted the religious law without imitation, They have taken that coin without a touchstone. The wisdom of the Quran is like the lost property of the believer; Everyone is certain of their own lost property.'
