Original content

English translation

To teach knowledge and skill to one of evil nature Is to give a sword into the hand of a highwayman. To give a sword into the hand of a drunken Zangi Is better than knowledge falling into the hand of a worthless person. Knowledge, wealth, office, position, and power Became a source of mischief in the hands of the evil-natured. Therefore, holy war became obligatory upon the believers, So that they might take the spear from the hand of the madman. His soul is the madman, his body is his sword; Take away the sword from that evil-natured one! The disgrace that an office brings upon the ignorant, When would a hundred lions cause such disgrace? His fault is hidden; when he obtains the instrument, His snake rushes from its hole into the plain. The whole plain becomes full of snakes and scorpions, When an ignorant person becomes the king of authority over them. When a worthless person gains wealth and position, He has become the seeker of his own disgrace. Either he acts with miserliness and gives few gifts, Or he shows generosity but places it inappropriately. He places the king in the square of the pawn; Such is the gift that a fool bestows. When authority falls into the hand of one who is astray, Consider that position has fallen into a pit. He does not know the way, yet he acts as a guide; His ugly soul sets the world on fire. When an infant on the path of poverty assumes the role of a spiritual guide, The ghoul of adversity has seized the followers on the path. Saying, 'Come, so that I may show you the moon!' While that impure one has never seen the moon. How will you show it, when you have never seen in your life, Even the reflection of the moon in the water, O raw and foolish one? Fools have become leaders, and from fear, The wise have drawn their heads into their cloaks.
