When he came to Egypt, someone said, 'I have dreamt that there is a treasure in Baghdad in such-and-such a quarter in such-and-such a house,' and he stated the name of the quarter and house of this person. That person understood that the purpose of being told 'that treasure is in Egypt' was so that he might be certain that he must not seek anywhere but in his own house; but this certain and verified treasure could not be obtained except in Egypt.

English translation

There was one who inherited wealth and estates, He consumed it all and remained naked and destitute. Inherited wealth indeed has no faithfulness, Since it was unwillingly parted from the deceased. He does not know its value since he obtained it easily, Because he rushed little in toil, pain, and earning it. You do not know the value of your soul, O such-and-such, Because God gave it to you for free as a gift. The cash went, and the goods went, and the houses; He remained like an owl in those ruins. He said, 'O Lord, You gave me provision, the provision is gone; Either give me provision or send me death.' When he became empty, he began to remember God, He began to sing 'O Lord, O Lord, protect me.' As the Prophet has said, the true believer is like a lute, In times of emptiness, he is a lamenter. When he becomes full, the musician puts him down from his hand; Do not become full, for the touch of His hand is sweet. Become empty and be happy between His two fingers, For this One is intoxicated with the wine of no-where. His rebellion departed, and a flood of tears opened from his eyes, The water of his eyes gave water to the field of religion.
