از کلیم حق بیاموز ای کریم
بین چه می گوید ز مشتاقی کلیم
با چنین جاه و چنین پیغامبری
طالب خضرم ز خودبینی بری
موسیا تو قوم خود را هشته ای
در پی نیکوپیی سرگشته ای
کیقبادی رسته از خوف و رجا
چند گردی چند جویی تا کجا
آن تو با تست و تو واقف برین
آسمانا چند پیمایی زمین
گفت موسی این ملامت کم کنید
آفتاب و ماه را کم ره زنید
می روم تا مجمع البحرین من
تا شوم مصحوب سلطان زمن
اجعل الخضر لامری سببا
ذاک او امضی و اسری حقبا
سال ها پرم به پر و بال ها
سال ها چه بود هزاران سال ها
می روم یعنی نمی ارزد بدان
عشق جانان کم مدان از عشق نان
این سخن پایان ندارد ای عمو
داستان آن دقوقی را بگو
English translation
Learn from the interlocutor of God (Moses), O generous one; see what the interlocutor says out of yearning: 'With such high station and such prophethood, I am a seeker of Khidr, free of self-conceit.' They said, 'O Moses, you have abandoned your people; you have become bewildered in pursuit of a blessed guide. You are a sovereign who has escaped fear and hope; how long will you wander, how long will you search, and to where? What is yours is already within you, and you are aware of this; O heaven, how long will you measure the earth?' Moses said, 'Cease this blame; do not block the path of the sun and the moon. I am going as far as the junction of the two seas so that I may become the companion of the Sovereign of the Age. 'Make Khidr a means for my affair; either that, or I will push on and travel for ages.' I will fly for years with wings and feathers; what are years? Nay, thousands of years! I go—does it not deserve this? Do not consider the love of the Beloved to be less than the love of bread.' This discourse has no end, O uncle; return and tell the story of that Daquqi.
