حجتش اینست گوید هر دمی
گر بدی چیزی دگر هم دیدمی

گر نبیند کودکی احوال عقل
عاقلی هرگز کند از عقل نقل

ور نبیند عاقلی احوال عشق
کم نگردد ماه نیکوفال عشق

حسن یوسف دیده اخوان ندید
از دل یعقوب کی شد ناپدید

مر عصا را چشم موسی چوب دید
چشم غیبی افعی و آشوب دید

چشم سر با چشم سر در جنگ بود
غالب آمد چشم سر حجت نمود

چشم موسی دست خود را دست دید
پیش چشم غیب نوری بد پدید

این سخن پایان ندارد در کمال
پیش هر محروم باشد چون خیال

چون حقیقت پیش او فرج و گلوست
کم بیان کن پیش او اسرار دوست

پیش ما فرج و گلو باشد خیال
لاجرم هر دم نماید جان جمال

هر که را فرج و گلو آیین و خوست
آن لکم دین ولی دین بهر اوست

با چنان انکار کوته کن سخن
احمدا کم گوی با گبر کهن

English translation

His argument is this; he says at every moment: 'If there were something else, I would have seen it too.' If a child does not perceive the states of the intellect, Does a wise person ever cease to discourse on the intellect? And if a rationalist does not perceive the states of love, The auspicious moon of love does not diminish. The eyes of Joseph's brothers did not see his beauty; But how could it ever disappear from Jacob's heart? The physical eye saw Moses' staff as mere wood; The eye of the unseen saw a dragon and upheaval. The physical eye was at war with the eye of the unseen, The physical eye prevailed and presented its argument. Moses' physical eye saw his hand as a hand; Before the eye of the unseen, a light was manifest. This discourse has no end in its perfection, But to one who is deprived, it seems like a fantasy. Since reality to him is only sensual pleasure and the throat (appetite), Disclose less of the Friend's secrets before him. To us, sensual pleasure and the throat are a fantasy; Consequently, at every moment the soul displays its beauty. Whoever has sensual pleasure and the throat as their creed and habit, 'To you be your religion, and to me my religion' is for him. Shorten your speech in the face of such denial; O Ahmad, speak little to the old infidel.
