دفتر پنجم - بخش ۸۳ - حواله کردن پادشاه قبول و توبهٔ نمامان و حجره گشایان و سزا دادن ایشان با ایاز کی یعنی این جنایت بر عرض او رفته است / Book Five - Section 83 - The King's Referring of the Acceptance and Repentance of the Slanderers and the Room-Openers, and the Punishment of Them, to Ayaz, Meaning That This Offense Was Committed Against His Honor

Original content

English translation

This offense is against his body and honor; the wound is upon the veins of that noble-footed one. Although we are a single soul from the aspect of spirit, outwardly I am far from this profit and loss. A slander against a servant is no disgrace to the King; it is nothing but an increase of forbearance and support. If the King treats the accused one like Korah, see what he would do to the innocent! Do not think the King is heedless of anyone's deeds; the only obstacle to its manifestation is His forbearance and nothing else. 'Who is he that shall intercede' before His knowledge, in an untrammeled manner, except His forbearance? That sin first springs from His forbearance, otherwise how would His majesty give it any opportunity? The blood-money for the crime of the murderous soul is upon His forbearance, like the blood-wit paid by the kinsmen. Our soul was drunk and self-less from that forbearance; the devil stole the hat from it during its drunkenness. If the cupbearer of forbearance had not been pouring the wine, where would the devil have contended with Adam? At the time of Adam's knowledge, when did the angels exist? He was the master of knowledge and the examiner of coins. When he drank the wine of forbearance in Paradise, his face turned pale from a single trick of Satan. Those marking-nuts of the Loving Creator's teaching had made him clever, wise, and agile. But again, that opium of His strong forbearance brought the thief toward his belongings. Intellect comes seeking refuge in His forbearance: 'You have been my cupbearer, take my hand!'
