English translation

He said, 'O King, the entire command is yours; in the presence of the sun, the star is non-existent. How could Venus, Mercury, or a meteor appear before the sun? If I had transcended the dervish-cloak and the sheepskin jacket, how would I have sown such a seed of blame? What was the purpose of locking the door of the chamber, amidst a hundred suspicious and envious people? They have plunged their hands into the river water, each of them seeking a dry clod of earth. But how could there be a dry clod of earth in the river? And how could a fish rebel against the water? They suspect me, a poor soul, of infidelity, whereas loyalty itself would be ashamed before me. Were it not for the annoyance of the uninitiated, I would have spoken a few words about loyalty. Since the world is seeking doubts and difficulties, we speak words only on the surface (outside the skin). If you break yourself, you will become the kernel, and you will hear a wondrous story of the kernel. A walnut makes sounds inside its shells; but where is any sound from the kernel and the oil? It has a sound, but not suitable for the ear; its sound is hidden in the ear of spiritual sweetness. If it were not for the sweet sound of the kernel, how could anyone endure the rattling of the shell? You endure its rattling only so that you may silently break through to the kernel. For a while, be without lips and without ears, and then, like a lip, become the companion of sweetness. How long will you speak of poetry, prose, and secrets openly? O master, test yourself for one day and be mute!'
