یکی دیوانه ای استاد در کوی
جهانی خلق می رفتند هر سوی
فغان برداشت این دیوانه ناگاه
که از یک سوی باید رفت و یک راه
به هر سویی چرا باید دویدن ؟!
به صد سو هیچ جا نتوان رسیدن
تویی با یک دل ای مسکین و صد یار
به یک دل چون توانی کرد صد کار ؟
چو در یک دل بود صد گونه کارت
تو صد دل باش اندر عشق یار ت
English translation
A madman was standing in the alley, A world of people were going in every direction. Suddenly, this madman cried out, That one must go in one direction and on one path. Why must one run in every direction?! In a hundred directions, one can reach nowhere. You are with one heart, O wretched one, and a hundred friends, With one heart, how can you do a hundred tasks? Since in one heart you have a hundred kinds of tasks, You should become a hundred hearts in the love of your Beloved.
