Section 8 - The Tale and the Parable

Original content

English translation

Thus said the Sheikh of Mihna one day, 'See one person in the world and sew your eyes shut. The earth is full of Bayazid, and the sky as well, But he is lost in their midst.' What am I saying? Where have I fallen here? For I have given my soul to the waves of fire here. How long shall I step on the path in every direction? When I cannot find even a hair's tip of myself. I walked much on this perilous path, I saw no human but a handful of dust. A handful of dust it is, with wind in its midst, His body is like a talisman, and his soul its treasure.
